Learning to swim is one of the most important life skills a child can develop. At the Y, we’re committed to helping more families access swimming lessons and build confidence in the water through our Learn to Swim program.
Families in the Northern Territory can access several Learn to Swim and Sport Vouchers to help reduce the cost of lessons, making it easier for children to develop essential water safety skills.

At the Y, families can use the following vouchers toward our Learn to Swim program:
These vouchers can be used with registered providers like the Y to help cover the cost of swimming lessons.
Children under 5 years old who are not yet enrolled in school may be eligible to receive two Learn to Swim vouchers each year, helping families access early swimming education and water safety programs.
To apply for a Learn to Swim voucher, families must first enrol their child in the Royal Life Saving Water Safety Awareness Program (WSAP).
If your child is already attending school, you can apply for the NT Government School Sport Voucher, which can also be used for swimming lessons through our Learn to Swim program.
Swimming lessons help children:
In the Northern Territory, where water is a big part of life, these skills are especially important. Read our guide on helping your child prepare for their first swimming lesson
If you have a voucher, our team can help you apply it to your child’s lessons and get them started in the pool.
Our Learn to Swim program at the Y focuses on building confidence, safety and strong swimming skills in a supportive environment.
